The summer holidaymaker may be forgiven for thinking that Corfu is hot and sunny all year round. However, we should point out that we do experience winters which can be cold and wet. Snow is not unheard of as these images show.

These images show some of the devastation caused by the brush fires near Loutses and Anapafteria during August 2011. Most of the smaller vegetation has recovered but not so the trees. It is impossible to assess how many of the animals, reptiles and birds survived.

We have attended many Panigiris (local festivals) over the years but I think that the first one we attended in Loutses was in 2005. Since then it has evolved and is now a much larger affair as I hope these photographs show. The Panigiri is great fun and worthy of attending should you be in Corfu for the last Sunday of July.

Kite flying is a traditional pastime in Greece on Clean Monday. People will often picnic if the weather permits. Despite the weather this year, it didn't stop some from enjoying themselves. Simple pleasures still exist in Greece.

We stopped off at a number of places both on the way there and back to take some photographs. This gallery contains a selection of them.

The highlight of the 2014 Panigiri was the Kassiopi Dance Troupe who performed dances from all over Greece. I think that you will agree that their costumes were magnificent.
As you will see in the later photos, even the Pappas was enjoying the dancing!
